This started after the city of Sparks approved an expansion of the shelter in 2018.
For over 17 years, we have been committed to ending the cycle of intimate partner violence with innovative intervention and prevention services in Reno, Nevada. Safe Embrace, Washoe County's largest safe house for victims of domestic and sexual violence, is currently facing a lawsuit that threatens to close the shelter. Safe Embrace (SE) filed for a Special Use Permit (SUP) to make updates to the facility but Hardy denied it.
